Questions?

I get asked the following questions often, and while it’s never the SAME answer, there’s sort of a general response.  We tailor *each* session to our clients, so depending on your needs not all the answers below will be appropriate. I will take the time with you to go over your wants and needs and expectations before the session, so please ask anything you like during the consultation.

What can I expect from you?

You can expect me/us to show up on time, with all the gear that is needed. Depending on the session and our discussions beforehand, I will have backdrops and fabrics, treats and toys, and other assorted props. You can expect professionalism. You can expect patience. You can expect that I will treat your pet like it was my very own, and that I know your pet is your family.

How long is a session?

Again, it depends on what you booked with me. Generally, an hour or two.

How do I best prepare my pet(s) for the session?
For dogs

I usually asked that they are exercised well before the session. A good run, a brisk walk, something that will expend some extra energy. Don’t give them any extra treats, and maybe even feed them a little less than a full meal the day of – if your dog is food-oriented, he’ll pay a bit more attention to me if I have the treat he’s eyeing!

For cats

Specifically, for cats – there’s really nothing extra. Cats are cats, they’ll do what they want. 🙂

For any animal

Gather up their favourite toys and blankets or bedding, and make sure they are picture-worthy. I do bring fabrics and toys, but some animals like their own things. Make sure you have groomed your pet if it’s needed. We want a clean face for photos! If it’s a kitty, trimming the nails is appreciated (so they don’t snag my fabrics and backdrops).

What if my pet is not cooperative?

No problem! Pets are not people, and there’s no way anyone can guarantee that Fido will do a nice sit-stay and smile sweetly for the camera. That’s OK! We’ve spent a LOT of time working with rescue dogs (and cats) who want nothing more than to get away from the big black clicking and flashing box I’m holding. We’re patient. 🙂
